I came across this photo, taken by Diana Mulvihill for the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin in an MSN 'best of the week' slideshow. The description read: "Christy Sparks, 8, of Corona, Calif., hugs her father, Army National Guard Sgt. Thomas Sparks, on Feb. 16 before he and other are deployed to serve a year in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba."

I was truly captivated by this shot as it was one of the best news photos I had seen in a while. Diana was kind enough to give me permission to post this on my photoblog and share her thoughts. As Diana said, there's probably another 8-year-old half way across the globe with the same expression on her face, wondering about her prisoner father in Guantanamo bay. Too bad there's no one to take her shot. Anyway, thanks Diana!
